Wind and high water notice
Tuesday, October 24, 2017
The City of Sault Ste. Marie's Public Works and Engineering department would like to advise residents to be cautious with the extremely high wind and water levels along the St. Mary's River.
A strong easterly wind combined with continuous rainfall has caused water levels to significantly rise in the St. Mary's River forcing the closure of portions of the board walk along the City's waterfront. Other areas of concern include Bellevue Park with water levels higher than usual. The City's Public Works and Engineering department will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information if needed.
Residents are asked to use extreme caution when close to rivers, creeks and streams. High winds combined with water levels and flows can be especially dangerous. The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their understanding.
