City Hosts Public Open House to Address Changing Traffic Patterns Along Black Road and Third Line Co

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

A Public Open House will be held November 26 to discuss the preferred preliminary design to address changing traffic patterns and vehicular and pedestrian safety in the Black Road and Third Line corridors from McNabb Street to Third Line and from Black Road to the Sault Area Hospital entrance.

Changing traffic patterns along these areas are the result of congestion in other parallel corridors and recent new and planned developments in the northern portion of the city, including the Sault Area Hospital. Design options being considered for the preferred solution include cross-section type, lane widths, cyclists and pedestrians and intersection configurations.

This project is being planned as a Schedule C project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Process (Class EA process). The Class EA process includes identification of problems and opportunities, evaluation of alternative solutions and designs, stakeholder consultation, assessment of potential effects on the environment and identification of reasonable measures to mitigate any adverse effects.

Preliminary study materials will be available for public viewing at the Open House as follows:

Thursday, November 26, 2015 - 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. (come-and-go)
Russ Ramsay Board Room, Level 3, Civic Center - 99 Foster Drive

The City's Consultant (AECOM) and City staff will be available to discuss the project details with you. Interested individuals are also encouraged to visit the project web page saultstemarie.ca/BlackRoadEA to access project documentation and updates.
