Are You and Your Family Ready for Winter?
Monday, November 2, 2015
The City of Sault Ste. Marie, in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, today announced the launch of Winter Preparedness Week 2015, to be held November 9 - 13 at various locations in Sault Ste. Marie.
Winter Preparedness Week raises awareness for individuals and families on winter readiness as it relates to emergencies. Disasters can strike at any time, and anywhere, in Sault Ste. Marie. Winter brings seasonal challenges to the entire community, and while many see the importance of being prepared, most have yet to take the necessary steps.
Throughout the week, the Emergency Management Coordinator and the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Management Team will be at various sites to educate the public about potential local hazards, emergency communication plans and 72-hour survival kits. Additionally, the Vulnerable Persons Registry (VPR) Coordinator will be on-site to distribute registration kits and to register individuals interested in the VPR.
Join us at our Winter Preparedness Workshops:
Tuesday, November 10 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Centennial Library - Program Room - 50 East Street
Workshops are free to the general public, and locations are accessible. Attendees can enjoy light refreshments, and a chance to win a survival kit as part of a raffle! To reserve your seat at a workshop, contact the Centennial Library at 705-759-5236 or drop by the Reference & Information Desk. RSVP is appreciated.
