Remembrance Day Operations

The following City of Sault Ste. Marie facilities will be closed November 11 due to Remembrance Day:
  • Cemetery office
  • Centennial Library and Churchill and Korah Branches
  • Children's Centres (Jessie Irving, Maycourt, Best Start - Holy Family site)
  • Civic Centre
  • Ermatinger∙Clergue National Historic Site
  • Essar Centre office and Box office
  • Seniors' Centres (Drop-In and Steelton)
  • Public Works and Transportation. For 24 hour emergency service requests, call 705-759-5201.
  • Social Services (Ontario Works, Social Housing, Community Child Care, & Accessibility office)
  • Transit office
Community Centres
All facilities are open for scheduled events including: Essar Centre, John Rhodes arenas, McMeeken Centre, and the Northern Community Centre.

John Rhodes Pool
The John Rhodes Community Centre pool is open for regular programs and swims.

Refuse, Recycling, Leaf & Yard Waste Collection
No collection Tuesday, November 11. Collection for the remainder of the week will be one day late. Refuse, recyclables, leaf and yard waste must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. to ensure pickup. The landfill site is closed November 11 but will be open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 15. The Household Hazardous Waste Depot is now closed for the season.

Transit Services
Regular Transit and Parabus service will operate Tuesday, November 11. There will be free transit service on November 11 from 9:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. to accommodate persons attending Remembrance Day services at the Essar Centre. Please note that at 11 a.m. Sault Transit buses will pull over to observe 1 minute of silence. For transit information call 705-759-5438.
