Sault Ste. Marie continues to benefit from OLG proceeds

Friday, March 31, 2017

The City of Sault Ste. Marie along with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) celebrate the economic impact and benefits of being a host gaming site.

To date, the City has received over $26 million in slot revenue for hosting the OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie. Proceeds for the 2015 - 2016 fiscal year have been reinvested in the community to assist with asset management projects for a number of municipal facilities.

"Sault Ste. Marie has enjoyed a longstanding and beneficial partnership with OLG," said Mayor Christian Provenzano. "The revenue received from our host gaming site agreement helps to fund important public services and community facilities. We appreciate the OLG's ongoing support and their employees' continued involvement in our community."

"OLG is proud to be a vital part of Sault Ste. Marie for 18 years and we look forward to continuing to build on that support," said Jake Pastore, OLG's Director of Municipal and Community Relations. "Each and every year 100 per cent of OLG proceeds are invested in Ontario. From healthcare, to education, to community festivals, OLG proceeds are hard at work in Sault Ste. Marie and all across our province. And, we appreciate the contribution of our OLG Casino employees in making life in Sault Ste. Marie that much richer."

The City looks forward to further strengthening the community by continuing to work closely with stakeholders like OLG.
