Newcomers Can Access Local Services Through Sault Connect App

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Immigrants to Sault Ste. Marie can easily connect with local service providers by using the new Sault Connect messaging app.

Designed to provide information and support necessary for the settlement process, Sault Connect enables users to search and contact various sector groups including: education, employment, government, as well as social services.

"All you have to do is ask a question and the right organization will send you a message back with a response! It is a quick, easy, and accurate way to get referrals from the services that can help," says Danny Krmpotich, Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator.

The app has the functionality to enable newcomers as well as residents to correspond directly with a representative from over 30 participating organizations.

Funding for the development of the online tool was provided to the City by the Ontario government through a contribution $149,600 from the Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade.

The Sault Connect app is available online at connect.discoverthesault.ca and can be downloaded through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
