Public Invited to Participate in Synthetic Ice Project

Thursday, March 12, 2015

The City of Sault Ste. Marie along with Mill Square developer Justus Veldman is participating in a pilot project to test and evaluate synthetic ice. A SmartRink synthetic ice surface has been erected indoors at the Mill Square - Machine Shop building located at 75 Huron Street.

The general public is invited to skate on the ice surface today and Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

SmartRink representative Rosalind Staple will be on hand to provide information about the synthetic ice surface and answer questions.

Community user groups including hockey, figure skating and recreational skaters will also have an opportunity to test out the ice surface over the next few weeks.

To reserve a block of time to test out the ice surface or for more information about this project, contact Ward 1 City Councillor Steve Butland at 705-542-0546.
