City seeking feedback from local businesses

Friday, July 27, 2018

Attention local business owners. The City of Sault Ste. Marie wants to hear from you. The municipality in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation and the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre, has created a survey and is seeking feedback from local companies and businesses on their development experiences. Specifically, we want to know what can be done to streamline community services, enhance support programs and address barriers that may impede success.

"We want to gain a better understanding of the views of local businesses. The survey is intended to gauge the opinions of companies, assess the local business climate and learn about owners' experiences with development projects," said Tom Vair, Deputy CAO, Community Development and Enterprise Services. "The ultimate goal is to encourage innovative solutions and determine how companies can be better served by the City of Sault Ste. Marie and other business support organizations."

In November 2017, City Council passed a resolution to create a task force to oversee the provision of a survey of local business and business organizations to solicit their views on the level of service being provided by the City, the EDC and the Innovation Centre and to offer possible recommendations. A report will be developed describing any potential recommendations that will better support local business and bolster the City's efforts to grow the local economy.

If you are a local business owner and would like to participate in this initiative, a survey has been developed for you to complete. Please contact 705-759-5432 or email info@ssmedc.ca for your copy. The survey is open until August 22.
