Paramedics food drive supports the Soup Kitchen

Friday, December 8, 2017

This year's Paramedics Helping the Hungry Food Drive takes place on Saturday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pino's Get Fresh and Joe's No Frills.

Off-duty paramedics will be accepting non-perishable food and cash donations in support of the Soup Kitchen Community Centre on James Street.

"With the support of our community, the paramedics have collected over 11,000 pounds of non-perishable food items and close to $17,000 in donations for the local Soup Kitchen," says Robert Rushworth, Deputy Chief, Emergency Medical Services Operations.

The following items are required at the Soup Kitchen: canned milk; healthy snacks; pasta; sauces; cereals; canned fish and meat; juices and juice boxes and other non-perishable food items. Cash donations allow for the purchase of perishable items, as needed.

This is the fifth year Sault Ste. Marie Paramedics have operated the Food Drive - we are once again asking for the public's assistance in support of the local Soup Kitchen.
