Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why was my garbage and recycling not picked up today?

Garbage and recycling must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. in order to be picked up. In the winter we do not pick up garbage and recycling placed on snow banks. If garbage is mixed with your recyclables, it will not be picked up.

A tag system is in place for items left at the curb:
  • Yellow Sticker - Over limit or in excess of allowable amount.
  • Green Sticker - Oversized bags, bags must not exceed 76x98 cm.
  • Red Sticker - Overweight bag or container, must not exceed 22 kg.
  • Orange Sticker - Oversized refuse can, exceeds 121 litres, refuse in this container must be placed in regulation size garbage bags.
Leaf and yard waste collection also has a tag system for bags left at the curb:
  • Silver Sticker - Unacceptable material in the bag; garbage, etc.
  • Blue Sticker - Oversized branches in the bag.
  • Red Sticker - Overweight bag.

Where can I obtain a yard waste calendar?

Calendars are available online on the City website under Collection Calendar. Hard copies of the calendars are also available in the lobby of the Civic Centre - Level 2.
