Forestry and Horticulture
The City's Forestry Crew undertakes the trimming, removal and planting of trees in all parks and along city streets. Forestry staff are also utilized by the Engineering and Planning Department for tree services associated with construction-related work.
The Horticulture Crew is responsible for the planting and maintenance of floral and shrub beds within City parks, cemeteries and downtown planters. Portable planters are also seasonally located and maintained throughout the community.
Plant stock required for the following season is grown from seed within City greenhouses. Staff grow annuals to plant in the many floral beds around the city. This crew is also responsible for the IPM program which involves turf care and maintenance of the Bellevue Park greenhouse.
Floral Display Sponsorship Program
The application is for the creation of flower display which offers civic minded organizations, services clubs and community groups an opportunity to commemorate a significant milestone or momentous event at our Bay Street or Pim Street flower bed locations.
