School Crossing Guards
School Crossing Guards direct and supervise the movement of persons across a highway (Section 176 of the Highway Traffic Act) by creating necessary gaps in vehicular traffic to provide safe passage at a designated school crossing location.
The Engineering Department shall be responsible for conducting all warrants, site inspections and gap studies at each location where a school crossing guard is designated or proposed.
A request for a study may be requested by a school principal, the relevant Board of Education or City Council, and addressed to the Manager of Transit and Parking.
