Moments of Algoma - Group of Seven

At the Ermatinger•Clergue National Historic Site we offer a full evening based on the Group of Seven. Whether you are here to participate in any of Algoma's "moments" along the north shore of Lake Superior Discovery Route, or just visiting Sault Ste. Marie and are interested in the Group of Seven, than this program offers you a unique experience into the men that painted our rugged landscapes.

The evening begins with a theatrical production in our theatre featuring Lawren Harris. This one man show is inspired by the letters and reflections of the founding members of the Group of Seven while painting here in Algoma. After this twenty minute production our guests are escorted into the Ermatinger Old Stone House, to sit by the hearth and experience a full three course dinner based on the menus of the men while painting in Algoma. Following dinner, guests are treated to the movie trailer of Painted Land with commentary by Michael Burtch, who as an Algoma artist himself located and found many of the places in along the north shore of Lake Superior, that the men painted beginning in 1918.
